About The Images

This screen shot shows you just a few of the effects possible using our Opal Special Effects Studio.

The large image was created with just a few effects. First, we began with a solid dark blue image. Then we added some flares, using the ellipse tool. On top of the flares, we threw several radial waves, which look like rippled splashes. Finally, we added a rainbow. The whole creation took about 30 seconds.

The two images of the young lady are "before" and "after" shots of just one mouseclick - this is a great example of the extreme power of the special effects filters in Opal!

The two images of the cat show what you can do with Opal's various Geometric Distortion tools. We bugged out his eyes and pulled his ears out to points. Total effort: Four mouse operations. Total time: five seconds.

Over on the left, we took an image of an artificial landscape, and added both lightning and a rainbow. Two mouse operations, about five seconds worth of effort.

About the Opal Interface

At the top of the image, you can see the dual-level toolbar. The bottom row of buttons, marked "Lighting", "Plasma", "Geom", "Pattern" and so on take you to the portions of the top toolbar that have those types of effects. The top part of the toolbar is where you click to access a specific effect. It's easy, and fun!

To the left, you'll see the area selection toolbox. This is used to allow you to select the areas on your images where you want your effects to be applied. You can choose from an ellipse, a rectangle, the entire image, a polygon, a freehand area, or even an area shaped like text! At the bottom, you can see a red square; when that is pressed, the ellipse area selections are perfectly round, and the rectangular area selections are perfectly square.

Basically, to use Opal all you have to do is select an effect, choose an area selection tool, and draw the effect on your image. It's really fast and it's easy, too! Plus, you can change all kinds of settings on all the effects to make your own unique and interesting special effects - not only that, but when you combine effects, you get results that are truly out of this world!

Finally, up at the upper right, you can see two buttons. The first shows a "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" icon. These are the Undo and ReDo operations. Don't like what you got? Press UnDo. Changed your mind? Press ReDo and it comes right back. The best part about these tools is they can track many changes, not just one, so you can try multiple effects and then UnDo all of them (and then ReDo them back, if you want!)

Plus Even More!

Opal has many more options and controls which are available from the program's menus, but you'll spend 99% of your time using just the tools we've shown you here. Opal is so powerful, the graphics community has been stunned - there is absolutely nothing like it in its price range. Check it out, and you'll see this is the absolute truth. There is no low cost application with the huge number of effects, the ability to apply them to your own chosen area of the display, the speed and the ease of Opal. For $19.95, you simply can't lose.
